Avondale Public Libraries will be making 22 Chromebook kits available for pickup at the Avondale Civic Center and Sam Garcia Western Avenue Library branches.
Chromebook kits include a Chromebook and a mobile hotspot to allow library cardholders who don’t have a home computer to participate in computer activities such as online schooling or job interviews Zoom. The kits are lightweight and portable, allowing customers to use them almost anywhere.
Funding for the kits comes from a combination of sources, including grants from Valley of the Sun United Way and the Arizona State Library, Archives & Public Records, a division of the Secretary of State, with federal funds from the ‘Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Adult library card holders in good standing can reserve and purchase a Chromebook kit. Kits can be borrowed for 90 days. Users can reserve a Chromebook kit by calling the library at 623-333-BOOK and having their library card number ready. It is recommended that users call during library opening hours from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Thursday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. from Friday to Sunday.
